Tonight, and today, were a little better in my head than I guess they were last night.

Early in the evening, I felt myself sitting in that familiar space, brain a big empty white board. My twin and daily writing inspiration Kristy texted me out of the blue to say that she had read last night’s post, and that she understood those frustration feelings, and that you still have to keep writing when that happens.

As that brief conversation occurred, I learned from a high school friend that one of our classmates- a known and liked fellow- had passed away this evening. He was someone I always remembered as energetic and athletic, and I thought he was someone I had said I would like to know better in the future.

    That news jarred a little.

And then, just like that, the first line for a story popped in my head, and I tried to chase it out.

An hour and a half later, and something was on paper. And like many things I write, I find it also carried within it a familiar theme. Loss.

But at least something was written.

I did have the positive experience today of having a photo I sent to NM Life placed on their Facebook page. I had showed Tim a few of my dusk photos with the Sandia mountains under golden light and slight cloud cover, and as always, he gave me good advice about how to adjust a photo like it pop a bit. NM Life posted the photo this morning, and nearing days end tonight, it has received nearly a thousand likes and been shared 250 times today. To have that image enjoyed made me feel good.

It was also nice at work to see a colleague pull a file box of old application and system, and file floppy disks out of storage. Many of the disks in the box had to be near 20 years old. After work, Tim went into storage and dug out an old Mac to see if it could read any of the disks. Sadly, two old SE’s did not want to boot up, so that adventure will continue tomorrow.

We have a Lobo Louie stuffed animal we keep on top of a bookshelf to help the Lobos with their gameday mojo. Recently, he has been a thug, and Tim took some mug shots of him today to use in a photo story on his blog. As you can see, Lobo Louie has been pesky lately.

    About

A web programmer by day, I somehow still spend a lot of time thinking about relationships, God, and the significance of grace and love in daily events. I am old school in the sense that I believe in the reality of sin, and in the need of each human heart for deliverance to the Divine. I am one of those who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that you can find most answers to life's pressing issues in Him and His Word, the Bible. I ain't perfect, and a lot of the time I ain't good, but by God's grace and kindness, I am forgiven and free.
