Yesterday, my folks, my bro and his family, and myself trekked up to Denver to see our Pummel aunt, uncle, cousins, and our cousin Darci for the weekend (reason forthcoming). The drive up was quiet. Once we got up here, we all collected at Jer and Amy’s and then broke up to run some errands. Scott and Ronda and I headed over to a nearby Goodwill to look for some new attire for an upcoming gig (event forthcoming). For dinner, we convoyed through town from Thornton in north Denver, through Denver Bronco pre-game traffic, down to White Fence Farms, a destination family style fried chicken place in Lakewood, south Denver. After checking out the petting zoo with the giant pig and the cow that tried to eat Amy’s purse, we went in to our long dinner table and feasted on the chicken, beans, beets and onions (not), mashed potatoes, cottage cheese (not) and donut hole like corn poppers.

After dinner, there was a guy with an extended golf cart out front who would drive people to there cars in the various lots. Me and my brother asked him if we could drive and he said sure, so we hopped in and cruise around the campus with all the kids on board, asking people if they were safe or needed rides. No one took us up on the rides, but it was fun. After about 10 minutes of cruising around, we returned to the front of the restaurant and returned the cart, taking some picks with the dude, Tim. He was a nice, friendly dude.

I finished reading Deuteronomy on the way up. It’s amazing to see things in the text that I have not ever seen before (which is not surprising, since I haven’t read the book with super close attention before). Mostly, I am just enjoying reading the Bible again, as source book and narrative of the history of Israel.

I sure enjoy the craziness of my family.

    About

A web programmer by day, I somehow still spend a lot of time thinking about relationships, God, and the significance of grace and love in daily events. I am old school in the sense that I believe in the reality of sin, and in the need of each human heart for deliverance to the Divine. I am one of those who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that you can find most answers to life's pressing issues in Him and His Word, the Bible. I ain't perfect, and a lot of the time I ain't good, but by God's grace and kindness, I am forgiven and free.
