It was a pretty good day today. It was a challenging evening, but it was a day full of grace. At work, I just worked on building an addition to a school capacity calculating app that one of our clients. I am really just retrofitting part A to handle data related to part B,...

II • When the Bough Cracked

    by  •  • A Short History of Love • 0 Comments

It’s always a precarious thing to wade back into our memories. When time passes and life batters us by waves of experiences, it’s easy to lose clarity about the things that have happened to us- especially those that happened long ago from where we are now. What we cannot remember clearly, we forget. And...

SOTD: “What A Fool Believes” by The Doobie Brothers

    by  •  • SOTD • 0 Comments

After reading the lyrics, I finally understand this song now. It totally explains to me what happened. “She had a place in his life… He never made her think twice.” Amazing. “A fool sees what he hopes for.” I guess it’s happened a few times in the world before. — “What A Fool Believes”...

    The Pernicious Poison of Self-Pity

    by  •  • LifeHelps • 0 Comments

“Never feel self-pity, the most destructive emotion there is. How awful to be caught up in the terrible squirrel cage of self.” ― Millicent Fenwick I am finally admitting to myself that, among others, I have one horrible habit that I recognize I need to get rid of. And it is not my excessive...

Yesterday was a good day. I got a fair amount accomplished on a project at work, and the day was quiet. My boss has been out this week doing home projects, so it has been more empty back in the back area of the office where I work. I guess the biggest news of...

This weekend, much like last weekend, was a celebration of relationships. The highlights of my weekend featured time with my friends and family. I mean, come on, how can I top this? On Friday night after work I did my regular Graham’s hitch to socialize and dance and shed the tension of the work...

    Real Hardcore Office Parkour

    by  •  • Comic Relief • 0 Comments

That. Just. Happened. Well, two years ago.

This is what happens when your boss is out of the office, you just watched the intro of an Office episode that was similar, and Ben comes around with his camera.

Ben’s brother, Tim Lolli, accidentally fell into the film. He was a good sport, and a quick read to develop his character. We were also fortunate to have William Winkler make a cameo appearance near the denouement to up the dramatic intensity of the storyline.

Another quality production by Ben Lolli.

No furniture or computers were harmed irreparably in the making of this film.

Link: The Original. Just flat out inspirational.

Today was a pretty good day: I made some progress at work on creating a generic form generator that can update any table tied to a selected database, including setting some parameters on form fields and placing some checks on numerical fields. This little app can change how quickly building a backend administration area...

SOTD: “Forgiven Not Forgotten” by The Corrs

    by  •  • SOTD • 0 Comments

It was nearly 15 years ago that, one evening, I sat in one of the local Flying Star coffee shops visiting with my Aunt Sharon when this song came on in the background music stream. I remember hearing bits of the lyrics and the driving drum bed and was so distracted I excused myself momentarily to find out who this group was. So began my affection for the music of these four Irish siblings.

So much talent in one family, as showcased here in this video, which was the second single released off of their debut album of the same. The Corrs have had massive success in Britain, Ireland and Australia while experiencing mediocre reception in the U.S. Still, their music has sold over 40 million albums worldwide since 1995.

Great musicians. Great lyricists. Great music.

For whatever reason, I was so wasted last night.  I was in bed by 9:30 PM (which is early for me) and I slept fairly solidly until 7:00 this morning.  I’ve been dealing with sleepiness between 2 and 3 each day this week, even though I drink coffee in the morning and eat a...
