There will be a drove of books coming out in the next year or so on them, on the year, on the accomplishment, on its significance. Evidently, Sports Illustrated writer Tom Verducci already has one ready to come out in early 2017. I mean, how does a story about the 2016 Cubs not get attentions? So many story lines and interesting characters and plot turns. So much to analyze. So much to chew on if you are just a sports fan. So many little things to revisit.

So, when you are a fan and you too want to write something about it, how do you approach it?

I have a loose outline. I know the beats I would want to cover. I know what each chapter would roughly be about.

But it is, at this point, the same story that 90% of these books will tell.

Maybe that doesn’t matter.

Maybe, for yourself, you just have to write it.
