It’s Saturday night, December 30th, 2017. It’s a day after the day I was going to go home, so it’s a bonus day in Wisconsin.

We used it by staying up late last night after we got home from La Crosse to watch… Karate Kid. Ralph Macchio looked like a 15 year old. Elizabeth Shue was a bubbly smiling beacon of young beauty. Mr. Myagi was such a good handy man. And I only slept through maybe 10-15 minutes of it.

Today was a late rise day, and we walked water in buckets from the house to the troughs outside the barn for the horses. We played a few board games. We ate a good noodle and broth lunch made by Ronda. We came to La Crosse again late this afternoon to stay the night at a local Hampton Inn. My flight home is supposed to depart early, so, to avoid the danger of ice on the dawn roads in the -8 degree weather, it made sense to just come in town and stay at a hotel overnight. The kids could swim. We ordered Domino’s pizza for dinner.

It’s a last hurrah. But it’s also about safe travel.

We’ll see how travel is tomorrow on the last day of the year. Through Chicago. During a cold and snowy holiday break.

I guess I better check in for the flights I might get to take tomorrow.

I have enjoyed spending this time with my brother and his family. We shared many great memories.

There is also a joy about getting home.

    About

A web programmer by day, I somehow still spend a lot of time thinking about relationships, God, and the significance of grace and love in daily events. I am old school in the sense that I believe in the reality of sin, and in the need of each human heart for deliverance to the Divine. I am one of those who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that you can find most answers to life's pressing issues in Him and His Word, the Bible. I ain't perfect, and a lot of the time I ain't good, but by God's grace and kindness, I am forgiven and free.
