• About Bruce

A web programmer by day, I somehow still spend a lot of time thinking about relationships, God, and the significance of grace and love in daily events. I am old school in the sense that I believe in the reality of sin, and in the need of each human heart for deliverance to the Divine. I am one of those who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that you can find most answers to life's pressing issues in Him and His Word, the Bible. I ain't perfect, and a lot of the time I ain't good, but by God's grace and kindness, I am forgiven and free.

I have a good friend who lost a sibling to cancer six years ago today. My friend loved her sister dearly, and she feels it every year when the anniversary comes up, if not only because she lost a sister, but also because that was one of the hardest years of her life, and...

    Jujube Tree

After a decent day at work yesterday, I had a serendipitous time with a friend of mine from the dance club and church. Last week, I went to Thearith and Daing’s house for a spring roll dinner, and my friend Gwen came over as well. Well, she had brought a chicken salad, which she...

    Evening Approaches at Monastery Lake

Good morning. It was a good weekend, although much of Saturday could be taken off the books. Friday night, Sagebrush Highland had a swim party at the Highland High pool, and we had a great turnout. Games were played, prizes were given, and seven people were baptized. One gal wasn’t even planning to be...

Tonight I had great experience with a couple from my small group, and another friend from my dance group and church. I have mentioned the husband of the couple before, but they need a better introduction. Both he and his wife are amazing people. Anyways, they had myself and our friend Gwen over for...

On Monday night at my small group, we dove in a little into Acts when it was generically asked, “What in your reading stood out to you?” To try and highlight life changing concepts from a summary reading of the 28 chapters of the book is a challenge. Still, some interesting thoughts were shared....

Tonight was a much more productive night than last night- I actually had some energy. And I felt a little better than this morning. After work, I stopped by Smith’s to pick up some groceries, and ended up with pretty much all fruits and vegetables. After last weekend with all of its sugars and...

It’s about 10 AM this morning, and I am back at work after an extended weekend. I feel pretty much today like the sky was this morning when I got up: dark, a bit on the cold side, and partly cloudy with a decent chance of precipitation. Sometimes for me, it’s simply a fight...

Yesterday, my folks, my bro and his family, and myself trekked up to Denver to see our Pummel aunt, uncle, cousins, and our cousin Darci for the weekend (reason forthcoming). The drive up was quiet. Once we got up here, we all collected at Jer and Amy’s and then broke up to run some...

It was a pretty good day today. It was a challenging evening, but it was a day full of grace. At work, I just worked on building an addition to a school capacity calculating app that one of our clients. I am really just retrofitting part A to handle data related to part B,...

II • When the Bough Cracked

It’s always a precarious thing to wade back into our memories. When time passes and life batters us by waves of experiences, it’s easy to lose clarity about the things that have happened to us- especially those that happened long ago from where we are now. What we cannot remember clearly, we forget. And...

SOTD: “What A Fool Believes” by The Doobie Brothers

    by  •  • SOTD • 0 Comments

After reading the lyrics, I finally understand this song now. It totally explains to me what happened. “She had a place in his life… He never made her think twice.” Amazing. “A fool sees what he hopes for.” I guess it’s happened a few times in the world before. — “What A Fool Believes”...
